Review/Coupon Code: Manitoba Harvest Hemp Heart Bar

I am an ambassador with Fit Approach, I participated in a Manitoba Harvest Hemp Heart Bars campaign. I received free product, but all thoughts and opinions are mine.

An extra day in 2016 for Leap Year! An extra day to get something done! I spent today doing extra studying and a couple of errands for my home. This past month I have found that even using a meal planning service is not enough for me. I was spending extra time with my mom and she had other idea about dinner then I would stay with her all day before heading to class for the night. My schedule was all over the place.

I had two choices: fast food or a hearty bar.

I was sent an apple and chocolate Hemp Heart bar from Manitoba Harvest. Thank you! You can purchase a right now with 15% using code hhbarlaunch1015

Manitoba Harvest Hemp bar

I have all my study materials ready to study but first an apple cinnamon snack!

The night I got my pack to try I had just spent 6 hours at school and was too exhausted to make myself anything to eat since I had to read a chapter before my morning class the next day. I completely tore into the Apple Cinnamon.

Best part about these bars is how filling there are for how small they are. I don’t like a massive chunky even doughy texture like some protein bars have. These bars have 15 grams of fat & 10 grams of protein so they are meal replacements. I didn’t worry about the carbs in the Apple Cinnamon as that was 15 grams. The flavor is rich but not candy bar like. I ate this one around 9:30 PM and didn’t get anything else to eat till 7:30 am the next day. I wasn’t hungry or get a headache. The ingredient list was also very clean and used organic ingredients. That is very important for me since I do not want to get a sugar rush then slump back when I need to be focused.

I tucked the chocolate away for another day.

The other day came.

HEMP HEART BAR PRODUCT REVIEW

I want to be able to say that every day I pack a wonderful lunch or that the places around me have great food but that is not where I am. I spent several hours working on a science lab then decide look down and see that my time to work out is here. I could blow off my work out to rush home to get lunch but I end up missing a much needed work out. I reached in my bag & decided to try the chocolate

I’m a major chocolate fan. I love dark, cocoa chocolate. I love flavor. I wasn’t sure if this bar was going to taste like chalk or have that candy bar taste. These bars are thick and are not excessively sweet so unlike ones I’ve previously had which were over priced candy bars. The chocolate has a flavor that feel filling. Both bars contain iron & I had no issues with my tummy or felt bloated afterwards.

I am glad that I was sent these bars as I’ve been looking for one that isn’t made up of entirely so much sugar or carbs. I like how filling they are and provided enough for me to be focused when studying and also as fuel for a workout.

Want to win a box of Hemp Hearts? Join the photo contest. I found these images on Instagram & loved how full of color they were. Tag @manitobaharvest #hempheartbar #fuelledbyhemp #sweatpink @fitapproach for a chance to win a box of your favorite flavor of Hemp Heart Bars! A winner will be chosen each month and the contest is open to Canadian and American residents over the age of 18.

Much respect to all my college students trying to make sure to keep the nutrition in check. Crazy thing is I have a project due today and found out I can’t get my access code I need for that project. I’ve contacted my bookstore and the publisher with no help so I’m going to turn SOMETHING in so I don’t fail.

What is your favorite go-to snack? Do you prefer apple cinnamon over chocolate?

February Goals 2016

Excellent month in January on the goals, but one of the most emotionally draining!

Review of my goals for last month:

Journal twice a day: HALFWAY I missed about 2 days but every day I had much on my mind so I poured out every night. I had a heavy heart when I went to bed and it felt so good to release onto paper. I also have become obsessed with the Bullet Journal community that I was also making quote inspired spreads. Two days of not journaling – not bad. Journaling helped me not only stick with my goals but to adjust them so I could fit them in.

Track meals’ nutrition: DONE! I keep a food log in my journal – some days I would move it to SparkPeople’s mobile food tracker. I would like to find a better tracker. I used to use FitBit but I gave my tracker to my mom. Today she told me she lost it. (“THANKS MAMI!”) Let me know if you are using a tracker that you like on your smartphone. I know their are a bajillion. Most of my friends like FitnessPal. It is always nice to have friends to keep me accountable.

Post 3 times a week: NOPE. I experienced personal grief for a cultural icon halfway through the month – then complete shock as my best friend’s son passed away. I cried for about two days and it was the first week of school. I had mentioned earlier that I have tried to batch post on the weekends but there was much to do with a memorial. It was hard for me to write just for the blog, but I decided to fall back on making writing for 30 minutes a day to be a goal then pull that writing on the blog.

30/30 hula hoop challenge: DONE! I made hula hooping a part of my daily affirmations in the morning instead of listening to music. I did not post a single video/image to my instagram. I like my account to look polished as possible so I created a 2nd account for challenges but I am already managing 3 different instagram accounts. I decided to set a day aside for each of my accounts so I can plan. There is not a tool that posts directly to instagram AND posts hashtags so this is sticky for me. Either way, I hooped 30 minutes a day.

January Yoga Challenge: Nope. Completely dropped the ball on this.

FEBRUARY GOALS 2016 ALLY FIESTA HYDROSUPRALICKED

Now I do have goals for February!

1. Write 30 minutes a day: I learned how to use DeskPM. I will be pulling from blog ideas I have free written and use those as prompts. I am also using prompts from Blogher. I currently have pending posts that require polishing.

2. #BeFit workouts: These are quick 10 minute work outs that I am joining in with #SweatPink. So far they have been intense so I make sure to warm up by jogging or marching in place, then do a 10 minute cool down and stretching. I will be posting a review of these work outs and several other products later on this month. There will be a giveaway so WATCH THIS SPACE!

BULLET JOURNAL LOVE HYDROSUPRALICKED ALLYFIESTA

3. #RockYourHandWriting, #PlanWithMeChallenge, #FMSPhotography: These are Instagram challenge that I am excited about. I enjoy writing creatively. The reason I have kept a journal since I was 9 years old is because my mom said my handwriting looked like “spiders dancing” so she gave me a pink plastic cover journal so I could practice. Lettering is my favorite hobby now. I even pulled out my watercolors so I can start to use them for quotes. Not to mention I spent 3 hours with my planner getting ready for February. Then I wanted to a popular photo challenge. I am lumping these together because they fall under a similar group but are different. I find it even more challenging to create an image that all of the challenges could be in.

4. Infinite Circles Challenge: I am doing this in the Infinite Circles Community Facebook page. I rarely EVER post videos of myself hula hooping so this one is for Facebook. I made a fun spread. I hope I win a polypro hoop from Raye of Rainn!

#ICChallenge spread in my bullet journal

#ICChallenge spread in my bullet journal

5. Virtual Assistant Website: I bought a domain so I can start working on other virtual assistant projects. I have several clients currently but not enough work to save for some goals I have this summer. I have several mentors who have motivated me to creative a website so I can showcase what I can do. Exciting, that will be completed by the end of the month. I have over a decade of executive level administrative support with a focus on accounting. Virtual assistant freelance work is perfect for me since I’m always on the go but never far from WiFi.

Did you accomplished your goals from January? Have you ever used the Bullet Journal method before? What are your plans for February?

Should I just change my January 2015 goals or give up?

January goal review 2016

I did not have New Year Resolutions because as they stay the same old: lose weight, be healthy, don’t get in fist fights, don’t mess up everything. I do monthly goals. Now to review my goals for January.

Journal twice a day: Killing it! I did a twitter chat with BlogHerU about time management and found out ways to organize my day. I found out about bullet journal. I did not buy a new pricey journal or even a new crappy journal. I just started use my Chinese pug journal with some new tips. My favorite part is creating new spreads and lists as I need to. This is helping me to check off m daily tasks I need to complete without limiting my space. Some days take one page – some days take 5 pages. Also I have been using my colored pens to draw which is perfect for my creative personality. This video of a bullet journal flip through from Boho Berry has changed how I will journal forever! I know it will take some practice before my lettering and doodling improves. I got an awesome e-mail from Moxie Girls and decided to take the major points to create this motivational page:

Track meals’ nutrition: I had a rough start with this because I was trying to use apps. After I got my bullet journal method set up, I decided to log my food there so I can see what I am doing. Apparently I am a fan of 2nd dinner! This past week I have been having one dinner then a snack. This should help my budget as well. However, I very much enjoy these fine Dallas restaurants!

Post 3 times a week: I SMASHED it in week one but last Monday I had a major heartbreak to find out my creative inspiration had passed away. Last Monday I completely stayed of the internet because I knew that it would be too much for me on a personal level. So that was last week – this is a new week. I also decided to do more batch writing and scheduling since there are going to be entire WEEKS where I am just not able to do with life in general.

Bright side of the heartache, I decided to quit trying to be normal part 10. I always go through stages where I think I can suppress my creative needs and my desire to just be the weirdo I am. I don’t have a lot time here so I ended up getting purple hair.

Ally Fiesta purple ombre

30/30 hula hoop challenge: I am fully hooping 30 minutes a day every day! I am however NOT posting it on my Instagram account. I recently created a new account just for challenges so I don’t have any stress on if a pictures/video looks perfect. That account is completely for me to grow in whatever challenge I am working on.

January Yoga Challenge: Yeah, I completely did NONE of this. I had planned on doing yoga before bed but really after 8 pm I am still running around or completely wiped out that I don’t feel like doing yoga. I am just better in the morning.

I am glad that I decided to check in to see where I am at half way through the month so I can make adjustments to review my goals. There are none that I want to quit, just moving some things around such as doing yoga in the morning after hooping. Still not sure if I can do BOTH in one day.

Let me know if you are keeping up with you goals/resolutions. Are you making adjustments? Have you decided to quit?

January 2016 Goals

January Goals 2016 hydrosupralicked

Surrounded by my Atrium Obscurum friends last night was the perfect way for me to ring in 2016! I spent this past week visiting with dear friends who have moved to from Dallas so I went to Beauty Bar two nights in a row as well as finishing up year end financials for a consulting I work with. I had a busy week which meant I decided to end the night at 3 A.M.

Today I had a wonderful day with my close friend. We had a disappointing brunch at Vickery Park; burnt omelet, wrong eggs on their order, the side of lemons was served a dirty dish. Yet it was awesome to be able to watch the Rose Bowl Parade for the first time ever. I need to quit trying to act like a pub has good food. “Go to pub & drink!” I need this tattooed to my hand. This is officially the first New Year’s day in my adult life that I’ve been so productive! After lunch I had the pleasure of being invited to a sweat at the NAC in Red Oak, TX. I haven’t been to a sweat in an outdoor lodge since this past summer so I felt like this was the hottest sweat I’ve ever experienced. It was also wonderful to catch up with the family and regulars who I have not seen in some time. Sweating today was the perfect way for me to reset for 2016. Sending up prayers and being able to sing some songs I thought I had forgotten was the best part.

Balones (mashed plantan bananas), eggs, cafe and la playa. Happy hump day xo A photo posted by Foodie | Naturalist | Blogger (@allyfiesta) on

After we all enjoyed lunch, including black eyed peas, my mom sent me a picture of green bananas with one word: balones YES! Balones de verde is my most favorite snack! Typically balloons are fried but today we baked them. My mom had already bought chicharrones which puts this to the next level. As delicious as balones are they are simply not photogenic! I will have to figure out a way to dress this up.

Sweet Herbal Bath boiling on the stove

Sweet Herbal Bath boiling on the stove

How does one clean up after a sweat? They have a sweet herbal bath! This what I’m about to fall asleep again. I smell like apples & cinnamon.

I’m fresh and ready to tackle my 5 January goals. I decided to stay away from making broad New Year’s resolutions and break down: be grateful, increase fitness, blog more, learn new hoop dance techniques & make yoga a daily habit.

Journal twice a day I already journal either in the morning or in the evening but this month I want to journal twice. Over the summer I learned that I need to focus on being grateful. Just journaling ONCE a day about my gratitude has made me feel great and stay motivated. I am hoping reading this goal expands my happiness TWICE.

Track meals’ nutrition I have been repeatedly told that I need to track my macro nutrients for at least the past 5 years but I figure I assume that I am getting enough vegetables and fruit as well as estimating the exact sugar. I am committed to tracking with a nutrition with an app & I can also log in online.

Post 3 times a week This has to be my favorite since I’ve had it several times in 2015. The final two weeks of the year are always so busy that taking the time to sit down, write, edit, upload pictures was too much. Next year I need to embrace automation for the last week! However, I have several pending blogs so having 3 posts a week here will give me a strong start.

30/30 hula hoop challenge A hula hoop support group on Facebook has posted that Hooping.org is hosting a “hooping for 30 minutes a day for 30 days in January” challenge. I’m already DONE. It feels perfect to be back hooping again. As always, I look forward to seeing what other hooper are going to be doing by searching the #hoopingdotorg3030 hashtag.

January Yoga Challenge Kino Yoga & Beach Yoga Girl are hosting this Instagram challenge which will raise money for Twoloha, a non-profit movement to give help & hope to people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury or suicide.

#MotivationMonday THE BEST HASHTAG EVER!

#MotivationMonday

#MotivationMonday

Monday is my favorite day of the week because I always set myself up for the rest of the week. I have not gone out for the nightlife regularly in two weeks because I love sleeping. I need to reset and now that I’m ready to get back on a dance floor!

Here are my favorite grams from this morning’s BEST HASHTAG EVER! #motivationmonday

An excellent question! Thankful that BOTH of my parents very much kept dancing well into – well they STILL dance! Dancing is my go-to heal all instant feel good thing to do. Even if for 5 minutes a day, hoops or not, I dance. I notice I’ve been car dancing more. I just got the SoundCloud app on my phone again so I’ve been blasting awesome mixes. I have no shame in getting down at a stop light and I can FEEL people staring at me.

Self-love is behind motivation. This past retrograde I was feeling super down, one of my reason to recharge.

I have been upset with others in the past and I just have to let them go. I do make it official and let them know I can not have them in my life & it is sad. Even if they are only hurting their own self, I care so much about my friends that it eats at me. Best thing to do is just just forgive them. Everyone is their own person and I must let them go through what they need to.

Always loved this quote! At times it can be scary to go for what I want and feel all brand new like, “Who am I?!?” Don’t you hate it when you talk your own self out of being a bad ass?!

I have been reading some folks posting they do not get started because they are waiting for everything to be perfect. Some are waiting to have the best camera equipment, best layout before going live with their website, the ultimate user name, all kinds of excuses. I used to NOT go to the gym because I did NOT have “nice” work out clothes. I was broke back then & I had to go to the thrift store and was SHOCKED that I found brand new work out clothes WITH THE TAG STILL ON – IN MY SIZE! I swear, the universe was like, “Girl, you going to the gym TODAY!” It surprising how much will fall into place, lessons I learned, people who helped me along the way when I just went out and did what I had to do with the little I had to start off with.

Filming in Dealey Plaza for 11/22/63

Dealey Plaza Instagram

While a majority of posts I’ve read on social media are geared toward how sexy the producer of Stephen King’s 11/22/63 I’ve been excited about various instagram posts of Dealey Plaza.

Today I was headed to do some shopping in Oak Cliff I got stuck in the traffic nearly Dealey Plaza. I was annoyed because the shop I was headed towards closes at 7 PM so I flipped my situation and took some pictures. This one came out:

I found this video being reposted, from metsyc, on the gram and thought it was extremely creepy to watch. Last week I heard a presentation about visiting the JFK memorial and surrounding area so I watched several clips of the shooting on 11/22/63. Here is a more closer view of what was filmed from @delavannyjocruz:

I’m not even a fan of cars but I know a sexy automobile when I see it.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the cast wears for the movie! I am SUCH a fan of clothing from this period. I used to dig for hours in thrift stores just to find the perfect dress.

So glad I wasn’t actually there during filming, if I would have heard a gun shot – I would have flipped. Watch this creepy clip:

And of course here is a Dallas PD car! You know how the department auctions off old cars? I would take this one. Then turn on the lights when traffic is too thick!

Have you ever been on set of a historical movie being shot? Or stuck in traffic while they were shooting a film? I’m enjoy history and since I had just heard about the JFK memorial last week these instagrams came at a great time for me to review the entire historical event.

Quito: Aeropuerto Mariscal Sucre

Landing in Quito

This is the first time I have not flown directly into Quito. My favorite part has always been flying down into Quito and seeing all the lights and completely stressing if the plane was going to crash into the side of the city! Since I can remember I always felt like the landing was dangerous after my cousins told me, “YES PLANES CRASH INTO QUITO!” So this year I was glad there was a new airport and it would be a major change from landing in a prison looking airport – even though it would be out of the city. Think how DFW airport is in Irving when you have a party to get to in Dallas minus the insane constant construction.

THIS NEW AIRPORT IS BEAUTIFUL! When we landed in the morning it was so beautiful to be in the mountains. AeroMexico was such a wonderful flight of luxury that I was able to sleep until around 5 AM and saw this

Waking up in the South American sky

Waking up in the South American sky

Excitement! I would rather travel at night so I can sleep and wake up to be there, however, my excitement wouldn’t let me. I pulled up a guide for Ecuador and read up on the current political environment and what things there were to. I was so determined to do everything. I have two months here. I have a lot of energy! I. CAN. DO. EVERYTHING!

Landing at Mariscal Sucre International Airport

Beautiful country side and getting to see over Quito made this one the best landing I have ever had.

Perfect day to wake up in Quito, Ecaudor

Perfect day to wake up in Quito, Ecaudor

The airport itself was easier to navigate and there was a bathroom right at International customs so much easier. Now there is a mall area for those who have long lay over. Just cross over the taxies and busses. It has several major brand stores but of course the cost is high in there. The parking garage is on the other side of the mall. Having Wifi at the airport made for a great time to check messages and get new podcast downloads before I left with my friend to the Galapagos Islands.

Found these awesome pictures Instagram. Loved these shots.

Hanging out with friends is the BEST way to destress

Wonderful day on Sunday with my friends and family Trinity Park in Fort Worth, TX. I have been fighting bad allergies this past week so I didn’t go out over the weekend. I’ve also been doing online classes and working on that to the point a friend told me I should change my name from Ally Fiesta to Ally Estudiente. That sounds like a good idea when fall comes around and I’ll be a full time student.

I did get a lot done around my home and enjoy the heavy rains (& beautiful tornado sirens Then as I started to review my calendar for this week I decided I just needed to get out of my home and go have some fun. Lucky for me, I knew there was a park party – ugh, yes all the way in Fort Worth – so I got my boho best and headed out to the west.

Beautiful day! I’m really lucky to know a lot of the people that were out there today. It was a reunion and there were 4 stages of music so I brought most of my hula hoops and twirls to every stage. I found myself deserted after doing each of these things with my friends.

1. HUGS! My friends give the best hugs. Nothing like a warm, fuzzy on a sunny day while my go-to disco house track is playing. I really enjoy a good back popping hug as well as the light hug but I LIVE for the group hug. I like doing those just for the sheer goofy factor that we are all grown adult doing a group hug.

When your girl’s outfit matches your hoop and you force her to twirl! A photo posted by AllyFiesta (@allyfiesta) on

2. TWIRLING! Brought out my hula hoops and even got one of my guy friends to be able to get the hoop going around his waist after he said repeatedly, “I can’t. I can’t.” Hold up dear friend, we AmeriCANs NOT Americannots. Remember that! Also got to meet several new skill toy performers and that always is something special about knowing I’m NOT the only person that props enough props for a small circus. I have always found a lot of peace in my hoop flow and like being able to be able to teach others or just connect with them. My friend recorded a hoop jam session during Michael Todd’s with several other hoopers including a young girl. It was awesome. Below is a FREE DOWNLOAD from the man himself. He played all weekend long – so it was a miracle that is was even awake by Sunday! He’s freaking amazing.

3. CONVERSATION! I’ve been friends with several of these folks since I was a teenager but all of us have moved around, gotten families and don’t get to come out like we used to. I was doing one of my rounds around the park and bumped into an old friend I haven’t seen in several years. Being able to talk to my old buddies makes me thankful that I know them and they are still connected to the music that our friendship is built on. Later on I ended up having a super real conversation about fathers with TWO people and I was thought, “Wow, I feel so much better being able to speak freely in a judgement free zone.”

4. BE IN NATURE! Getting some sunshine always helps me destress. I usually enjoy going on hikes with few people and completely resetting myself. Sunday was great because a mini-vacation from Dallas but with so many of friends.

What do you do to destress?
